Lexicon Vol. 1 by CAD+SR

In 2018 – 2019, I was a faculty fellow for the Center for Arts, Design, and Social Research (CAD+SR) as part of their residency program in Spoleto, Italy.  This book reflects the culmination of the work of the scholars/artists fellows who have since, are continuing to be brilliant changemakers, innovators, and thinkers in the world. In 2025, I joined the Board of Directors for CAD+SR.  Here is their message:

Lexicon Vol. 1

What new vocabularies are produced by transnational dialogues beyond disciplines, while centering the arts and design? Over our past nine years of work, we are discovering the answer.

We are thrilled to announce the publication of Lexicon: Volume I!

Beginning this year, and going into next, we will be featuring and sharing our archive of now almost 10 years of work. This book takes us back to our beginnings, and is the first of several projects that frame and communicate what has been created by CAD+SR’s numerous research convenings and communities.

This digital book documents the inaugural year (2018–2019) of the Research Fellows program at the Center for Arts, Design, and Social Research (CAD+SR).

From research residencies in Spoleto, Italy and Mérida, Mexico, to transdisciplinary collaborations that bridge art, science, and social research, this book captures the bold experiments, dialogues, and creative exchanges of a global community of artists and researchers.

Designed by Guilherme Falcão, Lexicon is more than a record—it’s a living testament to international collaboration, radical thinking, and the transformative power of shared knowledge.
